The exams at Rebecca’s School of Dance are conducted under the Commonwealth Society of Teachers of Dancing (CSTD) Syllabus.  The CSTD Syllabus is of a very high standard, and it is the technique that your child is learning in their main classes.

Exam work is beneficial for all students as it teaches them a higher level of discipline and also a better understanding of dance.  Students learn musicality, rhythm, timing, technique and discipline.  As well as learning dances and set/barre work the children will also learn theory, which teaches them the correct names, explanations and counting of the steps that they perform in all their classes.  As they progress in level they also learn routine construction and music theory.

When a student has completed all their exams they can then sit their Teachers Certificate and Teachers Diploma.  They will then be recognised as a fully qualified dance teacher internationally and can become a member of the Society.   Exams run from July/August one year to July/August the next, at the end of the period your child will perform their exam work in front of an examiner.  The students receive reports and/or medals/plaques/certificates after they complete an exam so that they have something to show for their hard work and dedication.

RSD awards Highest Marks Trophies in all Syllabi as well as an Exam Scholarship
